Circadia, a name of curious origin is derived directly from the term Circadian Rhythm, that hidden law by which plants, animals, and indeed people are governed in their daily alternation of labour and repose. Thus, the name Circadia may be said to embody the very essence of temporal order, a tribute to the natural clockwork of the Earth which turns with unfailing constancy from dawn to dusk and back again.
Circadia 2023 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
A valley most singular in its composition and temperament, the locals refer to it as “Napa,” though its true heart is nestled within a district called Oakville—a name derived, presumably, from the stately Quercus trees that once lined its ridges.
Here, the vine Vitis vinifera, of the Cabernet Sauvignon persuasion, grows with a majesty rarely observed. The soil, a curious mixture of clay and gravel, possesses a drainage most conducive to viticultural excellence. The climate, moderated by maritime fogs and afternoon warmth, renders the fruit both vigorous and refined. Terms often used in Oakville like phenolic ripeness, diurnal shifts and circadian rhythm hint at the harmony between nature and cultivation.
This Cabernet, aged in barrels of medium toast French oak, will eagerly share its botanical complexity: aromas of cassis, graphite, and the faintest tincture of violet. The tannins, firm yet yielding, hint at the bark of the Eucalyptus robusta—resilient, but not without grace. The finish lingered like the scent of a rare orchid at dusk.
Cabernet is a plant of paradox: aristocratic in its bearing yet born of rugged terrain. A triumph of botanical and human symbiosis.
“In Oakville, the vine sings. And its song is Cabernet.”
